Rion Union

The Rion Union was one of the Powers between the 54th to 59th Centuries. It was a federation of strongly controlled states led by the Rion, a government formed of humans and AIs. It is best known for ending the Shellcracker Wars, repelling the Ma-Khar Armada and using Strikeforce Onyx to bring peace and stability to the belt.

The end of the 53rd Century saw the Shellcracker Wars, one of the worst conflicts to be seen in the Belt. More Habitats were lost in this 46 year period than across the rest of recorded history.

As the Shellcracker War escalated at the beginning of the 54th Century a number of habitats considered the use of AIs could be warranted. At this time AIs were still viewed as a threat due to the memories of the Roid War. However it was clear that they could also provide the economic and military shift needed to bring the conflict to an end. In 5311 a number of habitats agreed to form a governance body comprised equally of humans and AIs called the Rion. This Rion was able to provide guidance to willing Habitats and, by 5318, the Shellcracker Wars were ended.

The success of the Rion was undeniable and many habitats joined the Union.

In the 56th Century the Union created Strikeforce Onyx to repel the Ma-Khar Armada. The Strikeforce was then used as a security force for the Belt, causing a golden age that lasted three hundred years.

The Union fell apart due to internal conflicts in an event now called the Dissolution. Whilst this was relatively peaceful, the power vacuum caused ended the golden years.
