House of Selene
//“The term "House of Selene" originates from a time much later than the crowning of Bethenny I, its first recorded use was by a historian in the 46th century.”// - Petter Orland, //History//, 6328

The House of Selene was a monarchy that ruled over parts of the Inner Planets and Belt from the 41st to the 50th centuries.

Following the defeat of the Jharn in the early 41st century much of the solar system found itself free for the first time in generations. This led to many alliances and temporary governments being created. On Earth this lack of stability caused many of the rich and wealthy to retreat to their holdings on the Moon. One such evacuee was Bethenny Philippe. Bethenny used her political savvy and great wealth to form the dozen richest families into an alliance and, once this had taken control of the Earth and Moon, maneuvered herself into the leadership position.

After twenty years peace and stability had been returned. So there was little opposition she she announced herself as Queen Bethenny I in 4092.

For the next few centuries the House of Selene maintained relatively cool relations with the other Inner Planets. Tensions were such that towards the end of the 42nd Century the Queen commanded the military AIs known as the Selene AIs were commissioned to protect her realm. However in 4275 the AI known as Roi went rogue and began the Roid War. At this time the other AIs were decommissioned.

In the 47th century it expanded into the Inner Belt, mainly as a way to protect the Inner Planets from the threat of the Kronian Empire.

In the 49th and 50th centuries the House of Selene was involved in the Tethys War. The war effort was too great and at the end of the war the House of Selene collapsed, with the leading members of the royal family either dead or missing. The territories the House of Selene once commanded split into various independent states.
