-====== UNCER ======
-//“It should be noted that from the outset the UNCER was a body designed to deliver political control not scientific research.”// - Petter Orland, //History//, 6328
-The United Nations Council for Extraterrestrial Research (UNCER) is an organization from the beginning of the [[Solar Age]]. It was formed in 2089 as a means to coordinate the exploration and exploitation of the solar system. But as colonization of the planets became increasingly important it became the de facto body to arbitrate territorial disputes.
-By the mid 23rd Century the UNCER was the mechanism by which the Earth governments controlled their colonies and, in doing so, became powerful itself. Late in the 25th Century the UNCER and the centralized governments of Earth effectively merged, forming a political machine that would become the [[Earth Empire]] in the mid 26th Century. Officially the UNCER ceased to exist in 2565, though historians would argue the real UNCER disappeared long before.
