I went for a lighter paint colour in the final model, it is called Davy′s Gray; I was a little concerned that my love for all things Star Wars was driving decisions towards something that was very TIE-esque. But the lighter gray should be easier to see in a space setting. I retained the red plastic insets as I though they worked well. I finished off by adding complexity with chrome details for the cockpit and a secondary paint colour.
